I like "maybe happy now." It's like a kindness to yourself, not to demand forever! 💛

Hi, I hope you're having fun on the summer hiatus! I hear you. Things are never predictable or manageable. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

P.S you may like this article I wrote based on Russ Harris' work and his book: The Happiness Trap (I hope you don't mind me sharing it here for you: https://www.carermentor.com/p/part-2-misconceptions-of-emotions)

I’ve felt so much room since even just saying this all out loud. It was much needed. I love Russ Harris’ stuff and ACT. I will absolutely check it out.

I'm so glad to hear that, Kaitlyn! I love his videos, he's so down to earth and the animations are great. The whole inverse relationship thing hits the nail for me. The more we chase happiness the more depressed/opposite we feel. I can wholly testify to piercing painful joy in the darkest moments that are not even on the same scale as 'happy'. Can you find a place with water, a lake or something and sit by it - that's one of my fave things, just watching water.

Sameeeee. Water is my peace.

I loved living in Switzlerland - even if landlocked, the lakes were beautiful and we had lots of lakeside cafes and restaurants...ahhhhh nostalgia. Pls add Lausanne and Luzern to a travel list if you haven't been there already! ;-)

Despite a dwindled creative spark, you managed to share a lovely and thoughtful reflection with us 💛 Thank you for that! I hope your rest is nourishing and that you’re on the mend.

That is very kind of you to say. I keep finding if I just say what’s true, it’s ok. I’m feeling a lot more space already.

Oh, Kaitlyn - I feel this SO DEEPLY! I've also been in a position where I force myself to do so much and end up being miserable and yes, sometimes even getting sick! I think it's AMAZING that you're listening to your brain and your body and taking a break! You do you - no one will fault you for it. Instead, you'll be inspiring people because you're an example of how to take care of yourself! 💗

Thank you, Amy. I appreciate your reminder around how taking these breaks helps encourage others to listen in to those pleas for rest within themselves.

You could also quote Jurassic Park "Life finds a way"...just end it on a different note by adding: "to keep you grounded".

Take care of yourself!

Dude, you’re great. Does it help you to know that you don’t have an all-day battery, that you need at least 9 hours of sleep, that you’re not designed to go-go-go (none of us are) and that you’re unable to tell when enough is enough? And does it help you to know that you learn from personal experience—that you ONLY learn from personal experience? You’re doing so great!

That does help, especially the reminder about how much sleep we actually recharge at. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you reminding me of these foundational truths. My IFS training this week has really helped settle my soul about all this. It feels like I wrote this a year ago after the week of spaciousness I’ve felt. It came at the right time. Just like your words ❤️

Given all the interviews you've done and conversations you've had, no wonder you are exhausted!

That is such a good point—and very validating, thank you!!

Oh this resonates so deeply with me, too. It is so frustrating to experience especially when you’ve been doing all the right things and following all the self care habits and practicing what you preach. Here’s hoping you’ll keep resting and listening to your body and get your groove back when the time is right!❤️‍🔥

Oh! And the women! Such an amazing and beautiful work of art. I learned so much from Frankie and her pals.

I just finished that book over the weekend. It was my first foray into Kristin Hannah and … chills! Anyways it’s a powerful message. Enjoy your August how you want, I hope it’s a refreshing month.

Oh my gosh, so good, right? My other favorite of hers is “Four Winds.” She knows how to pull me into a whole world I know nothing about.

I totally understand this - to be so burnt out - Creatively and emotionally. Take care of yourself ❤️ my therapist and I talk a lot about living more presently which is a true struggle for me for so many reasons. And this reminds me I wanted to meditate this morning and already forgot 😂 be well!!
