Love this because things like this can help to be so grounding! Even drinking enough water - sometimes I feel like that's such a win and I feel so proud of myself! I also love that you give permission to move on to something else if you're not vibing with the current "thing!"

Oh my gosh, yes. One must. I’ve already started considering new ones for myself. I just caught a sunset 🌅 which I almost always miss because of bedtime routine with A and it knocked my socks off. Probably can’t catch one every evening but I’m adding it to my list!

Oh that's such a beautiful idea!

Ooohh I'm really excited about your Wellbeing inventory! I've been doing a similar monthly check-in based on Susannah Conway's Unravel Your Year. I keep tabs on highlights for work, physical health, financial health, and social/travel/writing goals. It's always nice to reflect back because I'll get upset about one thing I didn't do well, only to realize how much I accomplished in the other areas. It's always a balancing act. Thank you for sharing your story and providing the tool! Sounds like a busy month for you but also one that will be bursting with moments of joy and connection amid the chaos!

You’re reminding me I have that one half filled out stashed somewhere under my bed 🫠🤣

It is such a good way to see all that happened and not just a few things we didn’t do. I remember a moment in grad school, riding home from an internship and I had a really terrible day, I was kind of spiraling to be honest, and I had this thought, I have no idea where it came from—“remember everything you had to do to get where you are right now.” it was like this little nudge to see everything.

I have no idea how this month or the second half of the year will go. Today is like New Year’s Day for me tho! It always feels this way every year. Also I’m in a seasonal depression of the sorts. I don’t like the summer heat 😅

Body/Movement: I think I’m ready to start doing daily yoga again. Being a yoga teacher turned me off and then only now has my PP body felt ready

Mind/Emotional: journaling/cycle syncing

Connection/Intimacy: tbh more time spent with loved ones INDOORS

Creativity/Hobbies: baking!

I was having the same thought around this midyear/new year energy. The heat is so hard and limiting. I’m with you. The yoga calling you 💕

This is great, summer can feel overly busy but also a bit lonely (for me) as friends peel off for extended vacations and such. Having a routine of things to return to for grounding is so necessary for me as well. We have some similar daily non-negotiables.

Every day I want to do something active - yoga, run, walks, and strength in heavy rotation and now that it is summer, lots of swimming, paddleboarding, and bike riding.

I want to do something creative like paint, knit, sew, or draw.

I want to connect with a loved one or friend on the phone or in person. I do prefer in person and I love voice notes and texts as well.

I also make time to learn every day - I've been working on language learning for years.

I also want to read every day! It makes me happy. This can be a book, e-reader, or audioboook, and sometimes more than one of those. I also strive to make some time for a category of things that I call personal admin, which is a combination of things and If I can do them 3-4 times a week, I am happy with that.

I love the tracker and look forward to using it!

That push/pull of busyness and loneliness can feel so disorienting. They feel like they should be mutually exclusive but they so aren't, at least not in my experience.

I love that you have active stuff that is so seasonal. That keeps it fresh, I would imagine.

Voice notes, yes!! I forgot to mention that one. I've been really loving that lately, too. It adds a different flavor to it that texting can't.

Personal admin--that is such a good reminder. It's gotta get done.

Oh this is so lovely, and such good ways to reflect with the well-being inventory - thank you for sharing it with the world!

Not letting the overwhelm consume me this summer is such a priority. In my body/mind category are more beach evenings. They’re always a great buffer between ‘going’ and ‘being’.

That is so kind of you to say!!

I was just about to ask where you are near a beach (full of water envy I am 🙋‍♀️) and saw you’re near Monterey! That is where I’m going next week. I hate to be this person-but here I go-anything I HAVE to do/see?

LOVE this phrase—“between ‘going’ and ‘being’”

Omg absolutely! How cool. I'll DM you to help curate my recs. If it makes your water envy feel any better, the closer one lives to the ocean, the less one goes to look at it 😅

Lovely, thank you!!

And I can so relate to that. We live by the mountains and I will be going on my first hike in 4+ years later this week 😶‍🌫️

Lol! This is the kinda stuff that makes me feel seen.

One of the things I love SO much about your writing, Kaitlyn, is how you’re consistently sharing not only your own experience, but also the *outcome of your examinations* of your experience… ‘that got me thinking…’ 💕

It’s so generous, humble and sincere, and all the more helpful because of these things.

Soooo, I’m most definitely in prime positioning for this approach, mucking my way through complete overwhelm. And the normal go-to’s? Epic fails. I need some paradigm shifting, and by your approach, perhaps via nudges from numerous directions. Will report back! Appreciate you, Ma.

As a fellow writer, I’m sure you can imagine that is such a meaningful compliment. Thank you. ❤️ I hope you’ll share how it goes with a new frame. Also this phrase is so resonate, “mucking my way through complete overwhelm.”

Oh gosh, I sure do hope so. With whatever street cred I can proffer, really appreciate what you’re doing, Kaitlyn. Here’s to rising above the muck!! 🙌🏻
